Citizen’s Comments / Visitors
Christopher Jones of Gatherco Inc. was present to report that his company would like to run a gas line to Pride of the Hills. They are wanting an easement through the property of Save and Serve. They also would like an easement from the Village to go along the public road way and across to reach Pride of the Hills. They also hope to offer gas service to the rest of the businesses in the industrial park as gas will be less with them.
Council Member Lisa Kauffman reported that Trick or Treat went well.
Ordinances & Resolutions
Council Member Lisa Kauffman reported the Tree Lighting will be held December 8th and thanks to the Sheely Family’s generosity it will be held in their corner lot downtown on the corner of North Main and Front Street. The tree at the park will still be lighted as people love seeing the lights as they come home in the dark – it is a bright spot!
Next CIC meeting will be held November 5th at the Village Hall at 7:00p.m.
Council Member Lisa Kauffman presented a check of $250.00 to the Council from the Early American Days Committee for the Park Savings fund.
Fiscal Officer Nyla Burick presented an offer from the Holmes County Healthy Coalition. They would like to purchase some bike racks for the village. They would purchase the racks and the village would have to install. After some discussion, Brian will review the areas of the Sweet Shop and somewhere between P & G and Burgett Insurance to see if they will fit.
Fiscal Officer Nyla Burick also reported that a neighbor approached her about volunteering to scan the old records of the Village. Her name is Elizabeth Heiser and she could start in January. A motion to allow her to sign out records and take them home to scan under supervision of the fiscal offer was given by Rick Allison; second by Jeremy Scheetz. All others approved.
The restrooms at the Park are ready to be shut down and soon will be closed for the winter.
Mayor Denny Hahn wondered if the Council has ever considered hiring another employee either part time or full time. If Council did want to hire someone they would have to go through the required steps. There is an ordinance already in place if there ever is a need to hire another employee. A resident approached the Mayor asking about employment but unless Brian is ready for retirement there is no need.
Street Commissioner Brian Rippeth reported that he needed to order a cutting edge and bolts for the snow plow from NAPA and that the gator is put away for the winter.
A motion to pay bills was given by Dave Tennant; second by Rick Allison. All others approved.
A motion to adjourn was made by Dave Tennant; second by Pat Mishler. All others approved.
The next council meeting will be Monday November 18th, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. at the Village Hall.
