Killbuck Village Council met in regular session on April 18, 2024 commencing at 7:00 PM with Mayor Allison presiding.

Craig Proper: He came to inquire about putting a bell on the corner of S Railroad and Purdy street. There was a concrete pad installed several years ago to install one and the semis have been getting into his yard. Steve will check into pricing.

Street Report:
Representative’s Name: Steve Patterson
Discussion: Had to put out signs twice for high water in the past month. Salesman from Prestige Chemicals stopped in concerning ordering for weed control. After some discussion Ted Thorpe made a motion to proceed with ordering spending up to $900.00 Dick Patterson seconded, with all others approving, motion carried.
Have enough spray for the mosquito sprayer and will take it to be calibrated at the end of May.
Still working on the street sweeper.
Park Report:
Representative’s Name: Rick Allison
Discussion: Little league starts Monday. Jayne Muse approached the Mayor concerning re-doing the entrance to the park from Allison Avenue, in honor of Bob & Sarah Bell. Micah Martin will be trimming the bushes in the near future. Pepsi came down and they didn’t have the return order correctly, so they took both machines and will be bringing the new one in the next week or so.

Brooke started her wastewater license training and we paid her $600.00 class fee. Purchased a new laptop for the online training.

Prior Business:
Discussion: Received estimate from AEP for installation of lights throughout the village. The estimated cost per month will increase the monthly bill around $500.00. After some discussion Lisa Kauffman made a motion to proceed with installation, Cindy Miller seconded, with all others approving, motion carried.

Discussion: The Nature Work’s playground Equipment grant. Tyler and Erica are still working on footprint. Presented the idea of a zipline and various other pieces. Will continue to draft what we will be ordering.
Quarry Bluff the Mayor spoke with Chris Young concerning closing CR 621 road from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM and he is fine with that. Will place barricades so that cars can still pass.
Leonard Moore property: Will invite him to a council meeting to discuss trimming of the trees and various other issues.
The other vacant buildings in the village need to be addressed as well moving forward.
New Business:
Discussion: Council inquired if there is a tornado shelter within the village. Linda will reach out to Holmes County EMA concerning coming to a council meeting.
Discussion: There was a structure fire on Water Street.
