KIllbuck Village Council met in regular session on December 15, 2021 at 7:00 pm in the Village Hall 138 S Main Street Killbuck, OH 44637 with Rick Allison presiding.

Street Report:
Representative’s Name: Steve Patterson
Discussion: Turned in the vacant building report at 255 Water Street, Julie will proceed with registration next meeting. Signs are raised. Did cold patch. The sidewalk at 1030 N Main Street is in need of repair. After some discussion going to reach out to the Park District concerning partnering with us and possibly forming a committee to complete project. Working on filling the ODOT salt contract in the near future. Council and the Mayor commented on how nice the Christmas tree and light look in town.

Discussion: Park is shut down for the winter. Life flight landed to see the painting on the landing pad. Ordered the three benches in memory of Brian Rippeth, Bus Close and Blaine Holt.

Representative’s Name: Julie Dreher
Records commission met tonight at 6:30 pm. Appointed Jen Thorpe as the resident community member. Adopt the public records policy and retention schedule. Working on 2022 pay and benefit ordinance will discuss at the December 29th meeting.
Citizens Comments:
Name: Dave Hall
Mr. Dave Hall came to announce he will be running for Holmes County Commissioner in the spring and asked for signatures on his petition. Mayor and Council congratulated him on his discussion and wished him well.

Topic: Blessing Box
Presented By: Mayor & Council
Discussion: The Mayor contacted Deb Lilly who is in charge of the Blessing box in Shreve. They built their own and would be willing to give guidance on building ours. Theirs is supported by local churches and food pantries. The Mayor spoke to Steve Sandison concerning having it located by the Duncan Theater, he is in favor of the idea. Gary will reach out to Daniel’s Amish Collections to see if they are willing to donate one.

Discussion: Spoke the AEP representative Jane Meyers she would like to come to a council meeting sometime in January/February to discuss options for LED’s and installing more street lights.

Discussion: Fiscal Officer met with Safe & Sound and had a quote to present to council, Fiscal Officer stated that she did not have enough knowledge to make a decision and asked council if someone would like to take over. After some discussion Ted made a motion to have Tyler McCombs proceed with getting quotes and proper equipment, Travis Scott seconded, with all others approving.

Topic: Recycle drop off of Christmas Trees for Holmes County Soil & Water

Discussion: Karen Gotter from Holmes County Soil & Water reached out to us concerning having a drop off site at the park for Christmas Trees to be recycled. Council gave their permission, Steve will put cones out for the drop site.

Discussion: Brandyn Benter will be leaving as our media coverage and relocating to Terre Haute Indiana. Mayor and the council wished him well and thanked him for his several years of media coverage here in Killbuck.
