Killbuck Village Council met in regular session on May 3, 2023 at 7:00 pm in the Village Hall 138 S Main Street Killbuck, OH 44637 with Rick Allison presiding.

Discussion: Lisa Kauffman made a motion to approve the minutes from April 19, 2023, Ted Thorpe seconded, motion carried.

Approval of Bills: Ted Thorpe made a motion to pay current bills in the amount of $75,570.79 Tyler McCombs seconded, with all others approving, motion carried.

Street Report:

Representative’s Name: Steve Patterson

Discussion: Curb was scheduled for today but got rained out they will reschedule. The township is going to mow CR 35 and parts of Railroad Street, once completed will get it sprayed. Once it dries up a little we will start filling potholes.  Six tires were put into the park dumpster.  Will get them hauled out.

Representative’s Name: Rick Allison

Discussion: Sign for Brian is in. Still working on signs for the Shreiner family. Got the fence topper up on field 2.  Baseball is underway.

Sewer / Water Report:

Representative’s Name: Linda Campbell

Discussion: Still working on income survey letters.  In contact with CUSI concerning implementation of the new portals.  Still in contact with Brown Equipment concerning the vac truck radiator.

Solicitor Report:

Representative’s Name: Julie Dreher

Discussion: Sgt. Stryker addressed the property at 295 N Water Street and improvement was seen by 4/28. 

Sgt. Stryker also addressed the black truck at 415 N Water Street. The owner indicated that the truck was inoperable and that he was in the process of getting it repaired. Sgt. Stryker will follow up. The camper issue at the same property has been resolved. 

The concerned citizen was satisfied with the results.

Topic: Dog on Allison Avenue

Discussion:  There were aggressive dogs on Allison Ave that nipped at a gentleman.  The sheriff’s department and the dog warden were notified.

Topic: Car hitting pothole on CR 622 by the Rubber Shop

Discussion:  Received a phone call from John Molnar stating he hit a pothole and did damage to his rim and tire and inquired if the village did any reimbursement for this.  After some discussion the Clerk will follow up with the gentleman for more information and explain the village’s point of view from a legal standpoint.

Discussion: Stated that the property has a lot of debris, tires and junk vehicles.  Julie will notify Sgt. Stryker.

Discussion:  Council will run an employment ad and take applications.  Mayor Allison has someone that could possibly be interested in the position.  After some discussion the clerk will run the ad and Mayor Allison can reach out to the interested party as an interim.

Discussion:  Steve will get in contact with Rod Arnold from the county concerning having sign made.

Topic: Library auction

Discussion:  Lisa wanted to thank anyone that had a part in making this year’s auction such a success.  The total donations were $19,715.00.
